# API overview

Source: https://www.scanner.net/docs/api

> Scanner has three APIs for Solana and Robinhood Chain. The Scanner API for explorer lookups, wallet and token scans and funding traces, the Embed API for bubble maps and explorer views, and the read-only Robinhood Chain Indexer API.

Scanner exposes its data through three APIs. Each has its own key, so pick the one that matches where your code runs and what it needs.

| API                                   | Use it for                                                                              | Runs from               | Key                                               |
| ------------------------------------- | --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- | ----------------------- | ------------------------------------------------- |
| [Scanner API](/docs/api/keys) | Explorer lookups, wallet and token scans, funding traces, bundles, identities, holdings | Your server | Secret `sk_live_` key, Scale and Enterprise plans |
| [Embed API](/docs/embed/overview) | Interactive bubble maps and explorer views on your own site | A browser, in an iframe | Public `emb_` key, locked to your allowed domains |
| [Indexer API](/docs/indexer/overview) | Raw Robinhood Chain data: tokens, pools, wallets, blocks, cohorts, live streams | Your server | Separate indexer key with per-route scopes |

All three cover Solana and Robinhood Chain except the Indexer, which serves Robinhood Chain today.

Scanner API [#scanner-api]

The Scanner API runs the same scans, traces, and lookups as the dashboard, from your own servers. Requests go to `https://api.scanner.net` with the key in an `Authorization: Bearer` or `x-api-key` header.

```bash
curl "https://api.scanner.net/v1/whoami" \
  -H "x-api-key: $SCANNER_API_KEY"
```

What a key can call:

* **Explorer API:** transactions, addresses, tokens, and blocks on both chains (`/explorer`, `/rh/explorer`).
* **Wallet and token scans:** funding sources, connected wallets, and bundle detection on both chains (`/scan`, `/contracts`, `/rh/scan`, `/rh/contracts`).
* **Funding and cross-chain traces** on Solana (`/funding-chain`, `/cross-chain`).
* **Address detection, identities, and holdings** (`/detect`, `/identities`, `/holdings`).
* **Wallet finder** for truncated addresses on both chains (`/wallet-finder`, `/rh/wallet-finder`).
* **Alpha traders, KOL wallets, and bundles** (`/alpha`, `/kol`, `/bundles`).

API access is included on the Scale and Enterprise plans. Calls spend scans from the plan's allowance at the same cost as the dashboard, and lookups that are free in the dashboard are free through the API. Scale allows 120 requests per minute per account. Setup, errors, rate limits, and rotation are in [API keys](/docs/api/keys).

Bubble map and explorer embeds [#bubble-map-and-explorer-embeds]

The Embed API puts Scanner's interactive token bubble map, or a single token, wallet, transaction, or block view, on your website through an iframe. On the map, nodes are wallets and tokens, and links are the funding and transfer relationships between them, colored by role: funders, bundled wallets, liquidity, and so on.

Embed keys are public keys for the browser. Each one is issued per organization with a list of allowed domains and its own daily and monthly limits, so embed traffic does not draw down a plan's scan allowance. To get one, email [payments@scanner.net](mailto:payments@scanner.net) with the domains you will embed on.

Robinhood Chain Indexer API [#robinhood-chain-indexer-api]

The Indexer is a read-only Robinhood Chain node and indexer with an HTTP read API of 115 routes. It serves tokens (holders, transfers, swaps, candles, launches), pools (including Uniswap V4), wallets (holdings, positions and PnL, funding graph), blocks and decoded logs, screener rankings, wallet cohorts, and live streams. It never signs or sends a transaction.

It keeps early observations apart from confirmed records: a record seen within seconds is marked speculative until its canonical receipt is verified, so a swap you read early can still revert.

Indexer keys are separate from Scanner API keys. A `sk_live_` key does not authorize the indexer.

Which one do I need? [#which-one-do-i-need]

* **Show a bubble map on your site:** Embed API.
* **Look up a transaction, wallet, token, or block from a backend:** Scanner API, explorer endpoints.
* **Check a token for bundled wallets or trace a wallet's funding:** Scanner API, scan endpoints.
* **Index Robinhood Chain tokens, pools, or wallets into your own system, or stream them live:** Indexer API.
* **Just browse:** the [Explorer](/docs/explorer) is free and needs no account.
